Role Summary

HHI Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented  Construction Project Engineer (PE)to support the successful execution of federal construction projects valued up to $100M. This role supports project documentation, document control, quality control, RFIs, submittals, and overall project coordination to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and compliant.

The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and other project stakeholders to help resolve project issues, maintain project continuity, and support projects from preconstruction through closeout. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in construction management while working alongside an experienced project team.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain project documentation, including jobsite files, drawing logs, RFIs, and submittals.
• Manage document control processes, ensuring accurate tracking and distribution of project information.
• Utilize Procore construction management software for file management, reporting, and communication.
• Coordinate the distribution and tracking of subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and field-generated documentation.
• Support quality control (QC) processes, including inspections, punch lists, and compliance documentation.
• Support RFI and submittal processes, ensuring timely responses and project continuity.
• Assist with preconstruction activities, including bid and buyout support and plan/specification distribution.
• Collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers to resolve project issues and maintain the project schedule.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Prepare project closeout documentation, including O&M manuals and final deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial or industrial construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a project team.
• Honest, dependable, and professional.
• Must meet applicable government security clearance requirements.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Procore and Bluebeam.
• Experience with construction scheduling software, such as Primavera P6 or OPC.
• Experience with USACE projects and the Resident Management System (RMS).
